Retrospective Playmate Ranking – 2009
by PML on Dec.01, 2009, under Playboy Mailing List
This is my ranking and I’m sticking with it. In my book, Dasha was a poor choice for 50th Anniversary Playmate, as I ranked her below the Shannon twins. The Shannon twins are tied in my book, but since Karissa was July, I’ll give Kristina the higher spot. I think Hope is this year’s best so I gave her the top spot but I don’t think she needs the PMOY title, she already has a lot going on for her. So my personal choice for PMOY is Kelley, I met her in person at GC and she was very nice and personable and I think she would be a good pick. I like Jessica a lot, but I don’t think she’ll get it due to her relation with Playboy as of late. I would be delighted if Kim Phillips or Lindsay Evans gets it, but anyone below that is a bit disappointing.
I think Crystal Harris is the odds on favorite since she is Hef’s bottom bitch, but I think the sleeper choice is Crystal McCahill due to her good relation with Playboy and her mother being a former girlfriend of Hef. But of all the Playmates, other than the twins, I personally dislike Cyrstal McCahill the most, it just seems like she would be the least friendly to meet in person. I could be wrong though.
1. Hope Dworaczyk
2. Kelley Thompson
3. Jessica Burciaga
4. Kimberly Phillips
5. Lindsey Gayle Evans
6. Candice Cassidy
7. Jennifer Pershing
8. Crystal Harris
9. Crystal McCahill
10. Kristina Shannon
11. Karissa Shannon
12. Dasha Astafieva

For the first not voting Blonde for P.O.Y
by PML on Oct.14, 2009, under Playboy Mailing List
PMOY by public opinion will be a close call between Hope Dworaczyk, Candice Cassidy and Jessica Burciaga. Jessica will probably lose out since she is not on the best of terms with those who matter. Hope sure seems the likely winner at the moment. Candice had the best centerfold by far and this is the most positive factor in her favor among other things.
As for personal favorites, I have said before that while this hasn’t been a great year just like 2008 and has no one stand out Playmate, Jennifer Pershing means just a little more to me than the rest.
I am really waiting for Kelley Brooke Thompson. So far her preview pictures have been very appealing. If her actual layout is as good as that, she could become my stand out for this year but let’s see.
Special mention for Lindsey Gayle Evans who I found very cute and liked her ass a lot.
As for the rest, the Shannon Twins and Crystal Harris do not make me feel like having much to do with them. I wouldn’t even discuss them if they weren’t Playmates. Crystal McCahill was a big disappointment. Kimberly Phillips was not bad at all but nothing about her really managed to reach out to me. As for Dasha Astafieva, initially I really liked her but her charm ended very quickly – still she does look great in some pictures.

June issue and PMOY
by PML on May.24, 2009, under Playboy Mailing List
PMOY 2010 should make a few things clear to us. If it’s Hope, Candice or Jessica, then quite clearly the public choice is being respected. If it’s the Shannon Twins, then all that matters is who is involved with Hef. Even if its Dasha it will be a bit suspicious considering the kind of things they have done for each other although Dasha being the anniversary PM perhaps has less chance of being PMOY. Crystal doesn’t have much chance except if they really want to honor the fact that she is a Playmate daughter. However Simone Eden was not given that benefit and thus this seems unlikely. In fact Donna Perry is actually the granddaughter of Joan Staley and she received no such benefit either. As for Jennifer, it seems her popularity is in a niche circle only that definitely includes me but is not enough to make her PMOY. Comments can be made on the remaining only after they are revealed – maybe Crystal Harris will want her place just like the Shannon Twins. Others who ha! ve been mentioned in this group as possible Playmates include Kelley Brooke Thompson, Latoya Jordan and Melany Lorenzo. Also Karen Velez’s daughter Nikki Majors could be considered. The mother was just too good but I haven’t seen the daughter.
BTW, this idea of never making the anniversary Playmate a PMOY just does not cut any ice with me. Is it that the same girl cannot be given two big honors no matter how good she is? Besides they are different kinds of honors. I wonder if Playboy has ever even openly hinted this. Candy Loving didn’t become PMOY but at least she had an equally popular Dorothy Stratten to compete with. However the one that comes to my mind most is Anna Mare Goddard. Did she not win it because she was the anniversary Playmate or because she was Dutch instead of being American since other than that she is an all time great Playmate?

Quick thoughts on April 2009 issue
by PML on Mar.17, 2009, under Playboy Mailing List
I just got mine today and here are my super quick thoughts:
Cover -
I like the idea, but on my copy the quality of the image is just crap. The skin on her legs looks like it’s about 6 different colors and it is just full of distortion. I know some people hated the March cover, but compared side by side the March image is a WAY superior image in terms of quality and clarity. Oh, and I really hate the look on Hope’s face – especially after seeing her in the GND show and in the mag – this just isn’t a great shot of her.
World of Playboy -
Blech – those twins are just plain nasty. And having watched a video of them on Playboy.com I can say now with confidence that they have about -50% of the charisma of Holly, Kendra and Bridget. And the supposed #1 GF is never next to Hef – whatever. It just rings so incredibly false and if they think anyone is buying these 2 girls as anything other than a publicity stunt they are mistaken.
Dear Playboy -
Love Carmen Electra, hated the pictorial. Love that someone talked about Ida being PMOY – I hope they are right.
Interview -
I like Seth Rogen and he is really hot right now, so I get it.
Bettie Page -
It looks like a nice tribute (although truth be told I am not that into her).
Miss April, Hope Dworaczyk -
I was disappointed she wasn’t selected as the 55th Anniversary Playmate although my guess is that she is being groomed to be PMOY – or at least she should be. Gorgeous, stunning, and amazing – although I was honestly expecting her to be Miss December, but I’ll take her any month they give her.
Coming to America -
I say send them home. There are a few that are ok, but I have seen way better Intl Playmates in the CyberClub. This pictorial is just lame to me – I mean really, who hasn’t seen the grotto by now?
Next Month -
HIDEOUS + NASTY + GROSS – BEAUTY = Lisa Rinna. Oh, and now that Crystal McCahill has been arrested for a DUI there is little chance I’ll be a fan (sorry, but driving drunk is a pet peeve of mine). The Nagel pictorial sounds interesting and I love Palahniuk’s writing, so I am looking forward to the interview.
ALSO – a quick note on the March issue since I didn’t comment on it before. I think it was super smart of them to feature Aubrey O’day – it was the first pictorial my older son (he’s 19) asked me about ever – he had heard about it on Mtv. I think the cover wasn’t great and the photos they ran in the magazine were just ok, but the online photos in the CyberClub were really great. I think she’s hot – pretty, great body, and one of the more current pictorials they’ve run. I used to watch her on Making the Band and she always came across as fun, smart and kind of fiesty. I am glad she hooked up with Playboy and I hope they feature her again.
Oh, and I really did not like Miss March at all – especially her CF which did nothing for her body (the shirt thing made her upper body look odd) and the pictures they ran of her in the CyberClub exclusives were really bad. I just didn’t get her – especially following Jessica (who is AMAZING) and Dasha and coming before Hope – sorry, Jennifer gets totally lost in that group.

Miss May 2009
by PML on Feb.02, 2009, under Playboy Mailing List
The tv schedule tells us that Miss May 2009 will be Crystal McCahill, contrary to that previous internet report that said she would be Miss August, which might have been nice since her mom was a Miss August. 2009 is turning out to be a very blonde-light year so far. But the Shannon Twins centerfold can’t be too far away I guess.

The Girls Next Door: Dasha’s the New Playmate!
by PML on Dec.08, 2008, under News Clippings
This week’s episode of The Girls Next Door brought us to the end of the search for the 55th anniversary issue Playboy Playmate. Our finalists: Dasha from Ukraine, Crystal from Chicago and Hope from Texas.
Quick question: Are you excited that brunettes are finally getting a role in the show?!
For some reason, all the other contestants are still in the house (including the twins, who still insist on wearing matching outfits). The whole gang headed out Knott’s Berry Farm where Holly could figure out “how much fun they’re willing to have.”
After riding the roller coasters and getting a Western photo made, the three finalists posed for their final shoots. First up was Hope, who Holly said “has a glow about her. She could be Miss USA!” (Let’s remember that Hope hosts a fashion show in Canada, so she’s had experience with celebrity.)
Dasha went second, and the photographer was very impressed with her performance in front of the camera. No surprise here either: not only has the girl modeled for an international issue of the magazine, but she is also in a girl band called Nikita.
Last was Crystal, who posed with Holly’s “cute car,” a cherry red Corvette convertible. Again, the photographer was impressed, and again, it wasn’t surprising: Crystal admitted earlier in the episode that she’d done plenty of pageants in the past.
Finally, it was time for Hef and Holly to make a decision about who would take the title. Hef weighed in on all three ladies, and had positive things to say about everyone. Hope, he said, was “tall, all-American, very personable.” Crystal would be a second generation Playmate, and he liked the idea of tradition. Dasha, he said, would help the international brand, but would “be less available … in terms of publicity and promotions.”
Ultimately though, they went with Dasha, whom Hef called “the most special” in a weirdly poignant scene that involved plenty of tears and kisses.
The gang celebrated with champagne and dancing at a club and everyone had a happy ending, including the twins, who had nothing but praise for the new Playmate.

Hugh Hefner’s New Twin Girls
by PML on Oct.08, 2008, under News Clippings
All right, so, everyone confirmed yesterday that Holly from “Girls Next Door” has broken up with Hugh Hefner. Meaning Hef is no longer dating any of the original Girls Next Door.
That is not to say that Hef isn’t stabbin any teen kitty. In fact he’s tappin the two twins in the picture above, and they’re probable candidates for the next season of Girls Next Door.
Their names are Kristina and Karissa Shannon (myspaces here and here and here). They are 19, from Tampa, Florida, haven’t been in Playboy yet, but have shot their Playmate pictorial, which will be in the magazine later this year, probably the Christmas issue.
There’s another girl named Crystal McCahill (last 6 pictures, myspace here) who may or may not be in line for the show. I’ve had one say she is, two say she is not. I’m more inclined to believe the ones who say’s she is not. She has huge tits, but she’s not blond, and that may hold her back. Love can be funny sometimes.
Another possible candidate for GND is Kelly Carrington, the October Playmate of the month. This is her on the cover here, more pictures here.
